The level of trust, openness, and effort required to dance with a partner can be incredibly effective in making stronger connections between people as friends, family, teammates, and romantic partners. Ballroom dancing can create lasting relationships, and we are so glad that our passion for dance can bring such joy to others!
Improve Romantic Relationships
Having a shared hobby can lead to stronger relationships. The happiest couples are those who can work together and have fun together. Ballroom dancing provides a romantic opportunity to strengthen your bond with your sweetheart and learn a skill that will last a lifetime!.
Dancing not only offers the opportunity for both new couples and couples that have been together for years to spend time laughing together, enjoying the music, and experiencing the joy of accomplishing a common goal. For new couples, dancing can be a fun ice-breaker activity; your instructor is there to guide you and take the pressure off of making conversation during the usual dinner and a movie (although we love those types of dates, too!). For long-term couples, dance can help you rekindle your love for one another and provides an opportunity to feel like a new couple again. Dancing can be the perfect thing to keep your relationship interesting and passionate; just think about how much more fun dates can be when dance becomes a part of your regular routine!
On a deeper level, dancing is all about communicating to your partner (both verbally and nonverbally), trust, vulnerability, and teamwork. Experts agree, people tend to be happier with experiences they spent money on than material purchases. While an object can be wonderful, an experience allows you to focus on your partner without distractions, and provides you with lasting memories. Each time you dance, you’ll experience all the joy it can bring; whether it’s a date night, a gala, a cruise, or simply a glass of wine and the radio in your living room, dancing can make any moment more meaningful and intimate.
Note to current students: The only thing we ask is that you let your instructor do the teaching! Trust us, your teachers can typically tell when a step isn’t comfortable yet or if there is a mistake that needs to be corrected. While we know telling your partner what you’d like to fix comes from a helpful place, it can often cause your partner to feel self-conscious, regardless of how you deliver the information. If something comes up that you feel needs to be addressed, please communicate with your instructor or management without your significant other within earshot so we can approach it more delicately. Your comfort and confidence is extremely important to us. We’ve got you covered!
Create Lasting Friendships
Ballroom dancing is not only for romantic partners; it is a wonderful way to have fun with friends, meet new people, and destress after a long week at work! Maybe you’ve recently moved to the area and haven’t met many people yet, or perhaps your closest friends recently relocated. Dancing is the perfect opportunity to meet new people and create lasting friendships.
Whether you’re dancing at one of our events you get the chance to meet people who share your love of dance in an environment that was designed to be fun, welcoming, and social. Rest assured, you don’t have to be a professional dancer to enjoy yourself. No matter what your skill level is, you can come be a part of our community, enjoy the music, and dance your heart out. Everyone is their to make friends and share their love of dance, just like you! Making new friends isn’t always easy, but a comfortable, stress-free environment will make it easier to muster up the courage to say hello and strike up a conversation. Don’t forget: a mutual love of dance will give you at least one fantastic topic to discuss if you’re nervous around new people.
Dancing is a great way to learn a new skill and get active, with the added bonus of meeting people who are just as interested in dancing as you are. Plus, once you learn how to dance, you’re sure to find it easier to hit the dance floor in social situations, which can in turn make it easier for you to strike up a conversation and make friends in other places, too.
