Have you ever watched a couple glide effortlessly across the dance floor and thought, “I wish I could do that”?
Perhaps you have wanted to learn ballroom dancing for years, but never knew where to begin. Maybe you would love to feel more confident at parties, enjoy dancing with your spouse, or simply try something new that is fun, social, and rewarding.
Whatever your reason, we have good news: you do not need experience, natural rhythm, or fancy dance shoes to get started!
At In Motion Ballroom in Jupiter, Florida, we created our Learn to Dance beginner series to help you take those first steps in a welcoming, supportive environment.

A Beginner-Friendly Way to Learn Ballroom Dancing
Starting something new can feel intimidating, especially when it seems like everyone else already knows what they are doing. That is exactly why we created a program specifically for beginners.
Our eight-week Learn to Dance series introduces you to the fundamentals of ballroom dancing, giving you the opportunity to learn step by step without feeling rushed or overwhelmed.
The series focuses on two fun, versatile dance styles: American Rumba and Disco/Hustle. You will begin building your understanding of basic steps, timing, and movement while discovering how enjoyable it can be to dance with a partner.
No previous dance experience is necessary. Just bring your curiosity and willingness to give it a try!
What Will You Learn?
Throughout the eight weeks, you will be introduced to the foundations of each dance style and begin developing skills you can continue building upon as you gain experience.
You can look forward to:
- Learning basic steps and recognizable patterns.
- Developing a better sense of rhythm and musical timing.
- Becoming more comfortable moving with a partner.
- Exploring two different dance styles with their own music and personality.
- Meeting other beginners who are learning right alongside you.
Our goal is to give you a solid starting point, help you feel more comfortable on the dance floor, and show you just how much fun dancing can be.
And remember, learning to dance is a process! Eight weeks will introduce you to the fundamentals and give you a foundation to build on. Mastering lead and follow, developing natural movement, and feeling completely comfortable with different partners takes practice over time. You do not have to know everything at once to enjoy the journey.

Why Start Dancing?
Ballroom dancing is much more than memorizing steps. It is an opportunity to add something enjoyable and meaningful to your life.
Stay active. Dancing gets you moving while challenging your coordination, balance, and body awareness.
Keep your mind engaged. Learning new patterns and connecting movement to music gives your brain something fresh to work on.
Enjoy time together. If you are taking the series with your spouse or partner, dancing gives you a new shared activity to enjoy long after the course ends.
Meet new people. Learning alongside other beginners creates opportunities to connect with people who share your interest in trying something new.
Build confidence. Every new step you learn is progress. Over time, those little victories can add up to feeling much more comfortable when the music starts.
And perhaps the best reason of all? It is simply fun!

Your New Year’s Resolution Could Be More Fun This Year
As the holidays approach, it is easy to start thinking about the things we would like to do differently in the new year. Rather than choosing another resolution that feels like a chore, why not choose something you can genuinely look forward to?
Learning to dance is an opportunity to challenge yourself, discover a new hobby, and enjoy a little more music and movement in your life.
Our next Learn to Dance series is planned for the new year, making November the perfect time to learn about the program and prepare for registration.
Registration is expected to open in early December, and those on our priority list will receive first access. If you are interested in joining us, we encourage you to get on the list so you have the opportunity to register before spots fill.
